Romelu Lukaku's future at Chelsea Football Club has been in doubt since the start of the 2021/22 football season.

The Belgian has been given a deadline date ( July 17, 2023) for when he is expected to return to the club for pre-season. However, there is a possibility that Romelu Lukaku might have left Chelsea before the expected return date as they hope that a deal with Inter Milan comes through.

The relationship between Chelsea and Lukaku have gone sour in the past few months following his interview with Sky Sports Italy where he expressed his disappointment with Thomas Tuchel's managerial style just months after he was signed for a club record fee from Inter Milan.

The Blues are looking for an outright sale of the player while Inter reportedly want a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of next season. Lukaku has received an offer from Saudi Arabia and Juventus, which he has rejected on several occasions.

Chelsea are looking to sign a striker that can solve their goal scoring problems which they encountered last season. However, Mauricio Pochettino will hope that Christopher Nkunku can score a lot of goals next season.

The French striker who recently signed from RB Leipzig scored 58 goals for the Bundesliga side in the past two seasons.
