LATEST UPDATE:
I’ve forgiven those behind my impeachment plot –NyakoGovernor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has said he has forgiven all Abuja-based Adamawa politicians behind the impeachment move against him, even as he joined well meaning residents of the state to pray to God to also forgive them for all their machinations to polorise the state along ethnic and religious lines.
Nyako, who played host to a group of women led by Hajiya Hauwa Abba that were at his residence to identify with his noble cause of moving the state forward in all its spheres, attributed the impeachment imbroglio to those he described as unpatriotic politicians who have hidden themselves under the canopy of elders of the state to cause disaffection among good people of the state.
He used the forum to restate his commitment to making a turn around in the socioeconomic development of the state, adding that nothing would discourage him from delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, promising that he would remain faithful to the social contract he has with the people.
“I will continue to keep faith with the social contract I have with the people of Adamawa State and nothing will deter me from identifying with the people. They are selfish politicians, who are out to infuse wrong impressions into the downtrodden folks of the state,” Nyako said.
Earlier, the Adamawa women leader, Hajiya Hauwa Abba had declared that the women and youths were at the governor’s residence to identify with him, hence thousands of the people that came in solidarity with the governor at this difficult time in the history of the state.
According to her, no less than 10,000 women and youths have benefitted from the various economic empowerment programmes of Nyako, which has made them to be economically self reliant other than remain dependent on others as economic parasites.
Abba also appealed to those behind the impeachment plot to see reasons as to why they should jettison the move in the interest of the generality of the state, as the existence of the state is bigger than any individual fomenting trouble.
A number of people who spoke at the occasion, identified with Nyako, pledging their loyalty to him, and assured him of their readiness to identify with his cause at any time.
The Senior Special Adviser on Government and Political Affairs to the Nyako, Mr. P P Elisha, disclosed to the gathering that Nyako declined appearance at the panel constituted by the Acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ambrose Mamadi because due process was not followed in constituting the panel.
