Simba boycotts Kariakoo Derby after being denied training access at Mkapa Stadium
Simba SC has announced that they will not participate in their scheduled match against Yanga (Kariakoo Derby) on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam, due to a breach of premier league regulations.
In a statement released on March 8, 2025, Simba cited Rule 17(45) of the Tanzania Premier League regulations, which grants the visiting team the right to train at the match venue at least once before the game. However, Simba was denied access to the stadium for their final training session, despite arriving at the scheduled time.
The club claims that security personnel associated with Yanga obstructed their entry, and despite efforts to resolve the issue for over two hours, they had to leave for safety reasons.
Simba has called for appropriate action against those responsible, emphasizing their disappointment with the treatment received. This incident echoes a similar protest by Yanga on May 8, 2025, when they refused to play against Simba due to a last-minute schedule change.
