Super Eagles suffer decline in FIFA ranking for April 2025
The Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped by one spot in the latest FIFA ranking which was released by the body on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
The three-time AFCON winner lost their place in the top five teams in Africa as they dropped to sixth place, being overtaken by the 2023 AFCON winners, Ivory Coast. However, there is something to cheer for Nigerians as the Super Eagles moved up in the world global ranking from 44th to 43rd while Ivory Coast moved from 46th to 41st, which is why there was a change on the African list.
Morocco held their top spot in Africa ahead of Senegal, ranking 12th in the world while Senegal remained second on the continent and 19th in the world.Egypt and Algeria are third and fourth, respectively, while taking the 32nd and 36th place in the world.
In the world, Argentina remained their place in the first position after victories over Uruguay and Brazil. Spain moved up to second, overtaking France, which dropped to third. England remains in fourth, while Brazil completes the top five teams.
Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, and Germany all took their places from sixth to tenth respectively.
