LATEST UPDATE: Kalu to royal fathers: Join fight against insecurity

Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has appealed to traditional rulers in the country to join in the fight against terrorism and insecurity in the country.
Kalu spoke when he paid courtesy visits to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade and the Owa Obokun of Ijesha land, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, in their palaces in Ile-Ife and Ilesa respectively.
The former governor, who lauded the roles of traditional rulers in the growth and development of the country, urged them to help in the fight against insecurity in the country.
He urged the royal fathers to render meaningful assistance in the fight against terrorism and insecurity in all parts of the country, stressing that security of all Nigerians must be paramount in the heart of any responsible government.
Kalu, who said he was on tour of the South-West states, stressed the need for all Nigerians to live together as one irrespective of tribal or political differences.
The former governor, who was accompanied by Senator Emmanuel Onwe, hailed the numerous contributions of the royal fathers to the unity and progress of the country.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuwade, who received Kalu and his entourage said the former governor has proved to be a worthy Nigerian through exemplary actions that have helped to promote good leadership in the country.
The monarch called on political leaders in the country to emulate the leadership qualities of Kalu, just as he advocated unity among Nigerians.
