LATEST UPDATE: UN lauds Ajimobi on security, healthcare delivery
The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Dr. Dauda Toure, has commended the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for his administration’s outstanding achievements in the provision of security and healthcare delivery in the state.
Toure gave the commendation when he led a delegation of the United Nations on a courtesy visit to the governor in his office in Ibadan at the weekend.
He expressed satisfaction over several projects being executed by the Ajimobi administration which, he said, were targeted at ensuring better life for the people of the state.
“The United Nations is highly impressed by the commitment of Governor Ajimobi towards the rapid development of the state and his efforts to better the lots of the people through his administration’s transformation and repositioning agenda,” Toure remarked.
According to him, some major segments of the United Nations were ready to collaborate with the state government in ensuring the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
Toure said the UN would partner the state government in the areas of healthcare delivery system, education, agriculture, youth empowerment and industrial park development.
Also speaking, the World Health Organisation Coordinator, Dr. Pui Cranna Vaz, urged the state government to provide adequate support for the polio laboratory located within the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
He also enjoined the state government to continue with the routine immunisation in the state in order to reduce polio to zero level in the state.
In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi commended the initiative of the UN in rendering assistance to the state government in its developmental effort for the benefit of the people.
He solicited the organisation’s support in the preventive healthcare through the provision of necessary equipment for the existing hospitals, large-scale agricultural production to ensure food security and youth empowerment with emphasis on skill acquisition.
