NNPC, TELL, Rotary, others extol Dimgba Igwe’s virtuesNigerians have continued to eulogise the legacy of the late Vice Chairman of The Sun Publishing Limited, Pastor Dimgba Igwe, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver while on routine jogging, around his Okota home in Lagos.
In a condolence letter, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NPPC), Ohi Alegbe, commiserated with The Sun’s management and staff, describing Igwe’s demise as a sad event.
He said the corporation was depressed by the circumstance of the death of the ace journalist, whom he praised for positively impacting the lives of many Nigerians, especially in the journalism profession.
Also, the President/CEO of Tell Communications Limited, Nosa Igiebor, grieved that Igwe’s death was a tragic end for a man whom he said bestrode the world of journalism for several years like a colossus, adding that he would surely be missed by all.
He stated that he was, however, comforted by the fact that the deceased lived an exemplary life and was full of love and care for all before his tragic exit. According to his statement: “We pray to God to grant your organisation and his family the fortitude to bear the loss. It is our belief that his soul will find repose in eternity.”
Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, also said the announcement of Igwe’s death came as a shock not only to the company, but to Nigerian media community. He said Dimgba built a reputation of resourcefulness, adding that he was loved and respected. “We will miss him terribly,” he said.
Similarly, on a condolence visit to The Sun’s Lagos Corporate office, the CEO of Sweet Home Africa Humanitarian Foundation, Revd Austin Epunam, pointed out that The Sun became an enviable tabloid due to Igwe’s modest contributions.
Rotary Club of Lagos Mainland
Meanwhile, the President-elect of Rotary Club of Lagos Mainland, Rotarian Oluwaseun Williams, has tasked security agencies in the country, to ensure that Dimgba’s killer is brought to book as urgently as possible.

Likewise, in a letter signed on behalf of the company, Yinka Ogunde assured the deceased’s family, the management and staff of The Sun and his friends of the company’s prayers.
According to the statement, “Our thoughts are with you and we pray that the Almighty God will give everyone the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
